morphine

was about to go to market when my mum got a call from my brother about my dad being in pain. at about the same time, my brother-in-law called to update me about what's happening. my dad was in great pain the whole morning. accordingly, the senior doctor came in and discussed with my brother about how my dad should be managed. we agreed on the morphine option. no other options given his current state.

rushed home from the market and went to the hospital. we waited for the family to arrive before giving the morphine to him. it was an emotional moment for many for the thought that when the morphine takes effect, he might never wake up again. time passed. the morphine did not work. he continued wailing for the next hour plus. frustrated, we asked for the doctor again. she came after some time. told us that she was not ready to give further dose as he might face respiratory depression and that given it was a weekend, they may not be able to escalate their response fast enough if his condition worsen. we managed to get her to call the senior doctor eventually and he agreed to give another dose of morphine.

later the pain management team will see him.

and for now, i have brought my mum home to take a rest.
