idealistic vs realistic

what's ideal and what's real are often v different...
we learn to appreciate this line over time.

don't get me wrong. there is nothing wrong about being idealistic. but it must be managed with a huge dose of realism. many a times, idealistic people who aimed too high do not go through sufficient thoughts to break down their ideals into short and medium term goals. these goals are important as it helps give us a sense of perspective. it helps us chart our dreams and helps us translate them into milestones to strive towards. it also helps give us a sense of perspective to things. the line between dreams and fantasies can be very fine.

while we need dreams to push us, we also need to recognise what is real. often, this meant that we need to be practical. if we can balance this, we will be happy. this perhaps is the reason why many of us mellow as we grow older.

or does this sound so defeated? is this wat being mature is all about?

depends on perspective i guess.

mmm....I am sure that I am not an ideal man. I don't like to dream. Have I been fantasizing all these while? Or what I am seeking has been deemed unrealistic?
{Pondering.....) But one thing for sure, I mellowed with age.
