cheerful mum

mum was very cheerful last two days. she was even ok when i told her my nephew was hospitalised. but of cos, i didn't tell her the extent of the illness and simply told her that he has had fever. and as to be expected, the "i-told-you-so" and "i-know-best" responses came fast and quick.

see lah! i told the mother (my sis-in-law) that she must give him a lot of water. i am sure she did not. that's why he got fever. growing children must drink lots of water and i know best cos i brought all of you up.

aiyah... little kids will definitely have fever especially when they are teething. for the little boy, i am sure it is becos his molar teeth are breaking out. his mother should have given him lots of water. for this kinda cases, why need to send to hospital? just give him water and he should be ok.

how come must hospitalise for fever? when you were young, i never need to do so. even when your father didn't help me, i was able to bring up you and your siblings... nowadays, with only 2 kids, she cannot even manage...

yup, that was the kind of responses of my mum. i just let her go on and on and on about it. if there is one thing i have learned, it was - never retort an elderly, or for that matter, point out that they are wrong, even if they are. it is always better to use questioning techniques to guide them and to slowly make them realise their own mistakes.

so... my mum continued her cheerful self through the whole of the last two days.
