9th anniversary

was a simple but interesting high tea at the marina oriental hotel axis bar & lounge last sunday. that was the day we met to mark our 9 years together.

there were 5 courses with a total of 18 bite-sized items. a few times, we wondered if we could ask for a refill of what we liked. but in the end, we decided not to ask as we thought it would be a tat awkward and embarrassing if we were to be told we could not. then again, i supposed we were not sufficiently wowed to risk the embarrassment! heh! i must say the food quality was generally good and the names sounded very impressive. and thankfully we did not. the tea was rather filling, especially when they kept topping up our pot of tea leaves with fresh hot water (that's the trick to make your customers full, by the way), and towards the end, it was pure sugar loading!

it was a relaxing afternoon although i do add that the conversation revolved around mundane and routine stuff, interspersed with moments of self-time and infrequent gossips about whether some guy-guy fellow customers were gay. also, some things, such as those related to family tensions, were not said cos we knew the depths and backgrounds, and perhaps have already made assumptions and concluded the answers if we were to bring it up. and some topics were potential minefields that were inappropriate for that moment. that was how we spend the 9th anniversary afternoon.

kinda typical of couples being together for 9 years?

:-)

ps: had to lie to my mum that i had gone for a malay wedding reception. didn't want her to get stressed out and wondering about whether i had gone out to meet bad people...
