went for my respiratory specialist check-up today. the doctor agreed with what the doctor from the polyclinic assessed last week and ordered for a couple of tests as a follow-up later this month… so i will be going for a spirometry test and a metacholine challenge test before heading back to the respiratory specialist for another follow-up review. in addition, she also scheduled me for a follow-up with the ent specialist to "ascertain if there are anything nasty inside my nasal cavity".
from the way she describe and the way she skirted the topic, it was clear to me that she was avoiding the word "cancer". that is kinda interesting cos all my doctor friends tend to give me all possible scenarios including cancer. and also, for the metacholine challenge test, i was made to sign an acknowledgement form that i am aware of the risk. apparently, it can be rather taxing and in very rare cases, may be fatal due to sudden trigger of asthma. but well… i am very sure it wouldn't happen to me.
i left the hospital with a whole bag of medications to last me 2 months. and i was also kinda tickled by the fact that these days, doctors are so specialized in their respective areas that they have to refer patients to different specialists to seek opinions of different things - in my case, respi + ent. and so i walked out of the hospital with a total of 4 new appointments for the next 1.5 months, and that makes it a total of 6 appointments, considering i have 2 existing one for my urology and orthopedic follow-ups.
hmmm…
