managed to catch the midnight show, oz the great and powerful, over the weekend with bee.
and we were totally blown over by the movie. and despite reading all the wonderful reviews and building up my expectations, i was still wowed by the experience. it was exciting, colourful, vibrant, and well-paced. there were moments of avatar, there were moments of superman, and there were many many moments where i couldn't distinguish between what is real and what is computer graphics. and no, it did not come across as a kids movie. the themes of jealousy, hatred, greed, etc were all so adult. and it was certainly not about dorothy and her adventures with the lion, tin man, and the scarecrow. rather, the story in the show pre-dates dorothy's time and gave hints to the origins of the characters in the dorothy-version of wizard of oz. and this includes the scarecrow, the lion and certainly the background to the reasons behind the dynamics between the witches. good show. very entertaining.
very well done. disney has done it again!
totally love it.
ps: and yes, i thought the guy who played oz (james franco) was really cute!

Heh... Same la...
I think this is the 1st good review I heard. All my friend said it was so-so only. will determine whether want they said are true or not soon XD
well soul, i supposed it will be good if you go into the theatre with no/ minimal expectations and with the clarity that you should not compare with other animated films. go and watch the show for its effects, and its entertainment value. in short, just go in an enjoy what the show offers...
