visit to temple

went to the temple earlier for the weekly talk by the venerable.

we were superbly late due to very bad friday evening traffic and joined in the talk about half hour into it. it was a simple talk and the theme was rather straight forward. venerable had used a lot of stories from the dhammapada to relate simple life's principles and to reinforce how we should live our lives as good buddhists. it was easy to understand and i felt good after listening to it. the talk was followed by a round of chanting. admittedly, i do not understand most part of the chant and at most, could only guess the meaning of parts of it. and for some moments, i suspected i would be more at home if the chants were in pali. at least i could read the romanised pali words and the english translations. nonetheless, i was able to go through the process without much of an issue. and despite not knowing the meaning, the chanting process had a calming effect on me. and it certainly helped stabilized my very agitated mind.

it was a good visit. i had not realized how agitated my mind had become since my relatively long period away from the temple. i think i should try to make the effort to go more often.
