one of my ex-uni-classmates whom i had re-established contact just helped sent in a staff referral note to the hr dept after i told her i applied for a job in her workplace! how much more blessed can i get! i am so grateful to her!
you see, i have encountered some of my old classmates in facebook over the last couple of weeks and decided to add some of them. amongst one of them was this girl (let's call her mau). mau and i lost contact after our honours year graduation but since she accepted me as her `friend' in facebook, we started exchanging emails. apparently she now teaches part time in one of the polytechnics. when she learned that i am doing job-search now, she immediately suggested that i consider doing part-time teaching too. so, i went into the career opportunities site to take a look and instead found an od-related job that sounded rather interesting. so i applied.
i told her about it and she immediately suggested that i give her my ic number and full name so that she could sent in a staff note to the hr. this, according to her, would help the hr narrow down and give priority to the applicant. i understood that it is based on the understanding that the staff sending this note would have known the applicant's worth and would therefore considered to have done the first level screening for them. well, it seemed like things are getting rather exciting in the area of job search for me!
