been reminded of quite a few songs of the 90s. and interestingly, it reminded me of james too. he was (and i am sure he still is) a song freak. would follow almost every song that came out. specifically, uk, and some european hits, hardly us. and the song below from r.e.m was one of the many hits from r.e.m that i particularly like. i called this song the sugar cane song. i actually cannot remember the title of this song except for the fact that there is a word "sugar cane" in it.
and the mtv produced is really very interesting. looked closely and you can see them playing it back and forth non-stop. and every segment, there are people singing the lyrics of the song. amazing indeed.
enjoy!
imitation of life
r.e.m
charades pop skill
water hyacinth.
name by a poet
imitation of life.
like a koi in a frozen pond.
Like a goldfish in a bowl.
i don't want to hear you cry.
chorus (1)
that sugar cane that tasted good.
that cinnamon, that's hollywood.
come on, come on.
no-one can see you try.
you want the greatest thing
the greatest thing since bread came sliced.
you've got it all
you've got it sized.
like a friday fashion show
teenager cruising in the corner
trying to look like you don't try.
chorus (1)
no-one can see you cry.
chorus (1)
this sugar cane, this lemonade
this hurricane, i'm not afraid.
come on, come on.
no-one can see me cry.
this lightning storm, this tidal wave
this avalanche, I'm not afraid.
come on, come on.
no-one can see me cry.
that sugar cane that tasted good.
that's who you are, that's what you could.
come on, come on.
no-one can see you cry.
(repeat last para)
