salam aidil fitri

today is a holy day for muslims the world over and it is a public holiday in singapore. in facebook, i saw many of my non-muslim friends wishing their muslim friends well. and i smiled. it felt good to see these wishes. the fact that the wishes come from non-muslims and non-malays reminded me of the racial and religious harmony we enjoy here. and this is such a stark contrast to someone in florida who is threatening to burn the qur'an. and there's been so much publicity about this case. regardless of outcome, i am sure the publicity itself would encourage other attention seekers to do the same in future. no win situation if you ask me. sighs... anyway, i do hope some common sense prevail. there can be no peace if one choose to be selfish. anyway, let's keep that negative thoughts out for this moment.

for now, i rejoice together with all my muslim friends in celebrating this holy day and i wish one and all muslims selamat hari raya aidil fitri!
