it was very funny of my friend to ask her son to message me when he gets bored. but that was what she did. and i ended up sms-chatting with her young teenage son over 2 nights this week.
and i noticed something interesting about my behaviour when chatting with him. i was very conscious about writing out proper full sentences, using the correct tenses, proper english words, avoiding singlish, la la la... and of course, in my responses, i was also very conscious about balancing between being an adult and a friend. in short, i was trying had to maintain a certain decorum and that he does not get into the habit of using singlish.
