oximeter

finally found out what the device that hospitals use to measure oxygen in a person is called. yes, it is called an oximeter. and it was interesting cos i had wanted to purchase one to measure my mum's spo2 level at home and i did not know what it was called. and so, i had to resort to describe it at the pharmacy...

me: 'cuse me, do you have that device that the nurses use to clip onto your finger to take our oxygen-level reading?
service staff: huh? what we have are all displayed here. you take a look.
me: erm... no, what i want is not here.
service staff: what do you want again?
me: you know, the clip clip thing. when we go hospital, the nurse will clip onto our finger and measure our oxygen-level.
another service staff: oh, that one har? no we don't have. sorry.
me: ok, thanks, do you know where i can get it?
both service staff (blank look...): ....
me: ok, never mind, thanks anyway...

frustrating right? and so, i google for it... device that measure oxygen. and hey presto... oxymeter... cut the long story short. managed to purchase it finally. and wow... one helluva expensive. small device but cost me over s$160!
