updates by the doctor

the interesting things about updates by the hospital is that they assumed you do not know anything about the patients' conditions and history and sometimes tells you things that come across as either naive and/ or condescending. and worst still, at times, it sounded like as though you are telling them an update instead... and this is exactly how i felt now.

you see, as a norm, all hospital doctors will call the family member to update them about the patient's condition daily and the treatment they will  be giving. and i have just got off the phone with the hospital doctor. and he told me a whole load of issues that mum has and even went on to indicate that the reason she fell was becos of her parkinson's disease deterioration. hmmm... interesting input cos the last time a doctor said he suspected she has parkinson's disease was many years back. and today, this one said it like it was a fact. wonder how he got this conclusion. he wasn't even aware of the conditions around mum at the time she fell! and after i explained he was like. hmmm, ya ya... hmmm, oh is it? hmmm, oh ok... and he quickly switched topic to talk about her breathing problem and the additional tests that he intends to do... i had to brief him on the history about her respiratory issues, her home management plan, yadda yadda yadda... and at the end of the conversation, he thanked me instead...

hmmm....
