life of pi

life of pi... read the book in 2001 when was first released. james had bought it soon after it was release. was rather excited when i learned that it would be made into a movie and released end-2102. and finally, i went to watch the movie with my mum yesterday. frankly, i couldn't really remember the story after such a long time, and thus, went in to the cinema with no preconceived notion of how the story would unfold nor expectations of adherence to the storyline. i was not disappointed. for that matter, i loved the show!

there is always something magical in ang lee's productions. and in this show, i supposed it is his insistence on using asians, as well as the abilities to see and capture the movies from an asian perspective. i was able to so intimately connect with the scenes and dialogue that captured the various religions. of hinduism, islam, christianity, buddhism, and so on... and more so, ang lee's abilities to put all these together so neutrally, through the eyes and interpretations of the main character, pi. and it resonates with me, for i believed strongly that religion is a very personal journey. and pi's journey to finding his faith is just so magically captured by yan matel and the directorship of ang lee.

ps: and as to be expected, mum didn't like it. she couldn't understand the story other than it was about a boy who got stranded at sea with a tiger... :-)

I read the book too, but that was a long time ago. Have totally forgotten the story. My idea of the story now is the same as what your mum understood it to be, haha.

Looks like i will wiki to find out the story.
