tam jiak - that is not a good term. it means "greedy eater" literally, or "glutton". that is what i would use the describe the loads of people i see at the food expo being held at the expo! went there with schneider yesterday. and today, brought bee there. frankly, it was rather disgusting to see people gorging themselves with food! you see them do the same at every turn and every corner... aunties rushing from store to store testing out all sorts of cakes, pies, kuihs, taiwanese delights, soups, eggs, and so on... and it seemed like almost every soup you can see are starchy and unhealthy! and after squeezing your way through the crowd, you end up at rows and rows of hawker stalls selling food and again, you see unruly people pushing each other and cutting queues so that they can buy the food first.
disgusting! disgusting! disgusting!
and as i got myself crushed while walking through, i could imagine the scene in the show "spirited away" where all of the gluttons slowly turn to swines! arghhh...
ps: ok, i know i sounded mean, but well, that was what i felt both times i was there. and i guessed it was also cos i didn't feel hungry as i went there after my dinner on both days.
