dennis posted this song "明天會更好" (it means "tomorrow will be better") in his blog. listening to it reminds me so much of my ocs days back in the mid-80s. the days of pants so baggy you can put two chicken inside, and where the size of our shoulder pads were comparable to a size-d bra cup! ahem ;-) anyway, the lyrics of the song is so apt in today's gloomy climate. tomorrow will be better. i am sure. hang on there. the only direction possible when things are at its lowest point is up.
and on a separate note, some further reflections:
and on a separate note, some further reflections:
- what happened to taiwan? when the song was recorded in the '80s, taiwan was in its hey days. the people were proud, united and very much nationalistic. taiwan today is nothing near what it was then. has democracy brought it to what it is today? or was it a case of the country being hijacked by politics?
- all the singers look so young. these were the heavyweights in the entertainment scene then. today, many are still around and still very influential in the scene. still very diva, in fact, more so. in contrast, today's entertainer/ singers come and go very quickly. i see similar developments in the west. why? case of technology? case of commercialisation?
