mum's discharged

mum was discharged from hospital 2 days ago. it was her sixth hospitalization in as many months. so much so that the hospital staff all knew her. 

well… i am not sure if it is the lunar new year, but mum has been rather unwell today. i think she could be anxious about the new year despite her denying it. and she kept asking me questions like when is reunion dinner, whether i will be working today or not, whether she would be required to head to the rehab center, whether i will be cooking, what would i be cooking etc etc etc. and today, she said she wanted to pay respects to my dad and my grandparents tomorrow and asked me to purchase some joss papers. had to go around to hunt for it cos most shops had closed by then. 

anyway, this morning while i was at work, she vomited. and when i returned with lunch, she couldn't really eat and i had to cook her white porridge. she rested for the whole of today as i went about cooking and doing all the dinner preparations. she made the effort to eat the reunion dinner despite claiming she was unwell. to her, this evening's dinner was significant. it was reunion dinner after all.

and yes, talking about reunion dinner, i think she was a little disappointed about not being able to join my brother for the dinner this evening. what happened was that 2 days ago, my sis-in-law asked me if i wanted to join them for reunion dinner and i told her i would consult my mum first. but immediately after she hung up, my brother called my mum telling her that we should not cos he is still sick. mum had been talking about it non-stop since. 

well… she retired early this evening.

let's hope she's ok tomorrow.
