letting go

it's really easy to let go once u get the hang of doing it. and i say so and reflected so as i deleted my facebook status this morning. i used to feel sentimental about deleting my status cos after sometime, somehow status updates become a part of my life. i cannot deny it documents my experiences and i undeniably become attached to them. i realized this is not healthy and decided that i should delete them after a day or two. they should capture my thoughts at a certain point of time and perhaps allow me to share with my friends, but they should not create a sense of attachment. so now i delete them every day or two. initially, i felt a little sayang cos all the comments and likes would be deleted too. i recognize the issue is me and not the status updates, but well, the act of deleting it helps shape my behaviour and mindsets. and after sometime, it's very easy to do so...

i supposed in life, this is the same. we get attached to things easily, and many a times without realizing it. for example, we get attached to people, things, places, ideas, believes, etc, even status updates! learning to let go of these attachments is the start to being free. these things often feeds our ego. letting them go releases us from being held down, just like how a kite is stuck to the one flying it. when we are able to fully let go, we open up a whole lot of space to realize our potential. and it allows us to be free and happy. letting go allows us to go higher and see the bigger picture. and when we are high enough, we realize that many things we are attached to are not important. and looking downwards from space, issues like relationships, daily complains about traffic jams, work, etc becomes insignificant. instead we see the beauty of nature, of space, of the truth...

so... yup, let go. be free.

be happy.
