new big boss

i had a change in my chief last week when my previous chief decided to step down and take on a smaller role. and it was interesting... 

she came in on monday and i was away through most of the week and came back to office only friday. and when she saw me, she enthusiastically came up to me to talk about my workshop. and i rattled about it and noted she looked somewhat bewildered. she was kind as she continued to smile and look interested (despite the bewilderment) as i went on telling her about the workshop. i found out later on, and a few times through the day that in the 4 days she was with us, nobody had briefed her about the company! and when i asked around, everybody said they couldn't find time to brief her... it shocked me to find out that she was not even told about the department's shared drive in the server! so much for my previous chief for spending 1-2 full days telling her about the company...

haiz... and so, with this realization, i calibrated down my expectations and spoke to her like as though she is brand new. heh heh... then again, i must say, her joining the team did indeed bring in an air of uncertainty in a very positive way cos she's been a generalist her whole life and can quickly pick up what we are doing in our respective functions. this is in very stark contrast to her predecessor who came from a very specialized background and couldn't give us any clear directions about what to do...

let's see how things go. i feel good about this change in the leadership.
