my niece will be getting married this saturday. my eldest sis did not invite any of us. and as for my mum, the invite was extended to her only for the solemnization ceremony and a lunch after that. the same invite to the lunch was extended to 2 other nieces of mine cos my niece is very close to them. otherwise, no other family members were invited. no one have been invited for dinner and the reason i understand is that they felt the monies that they will get back from ang pows are likely to be insufficient to foot the bill... and so they decided to drop all invites to my side of the family members.
sounds weird? heh heh... that's how things are in my family. where values and family ties either do not exist or are not valued. then again, as long as my niece is happy, i am happy for her. i have taken care of her when she was a baby and she's rather close to me. she was very apologetic for not inviting me, but she has to work within the boundaries of her mummy's wishes. but i am not perturbed by it. i have transferred the ang pow money to her and i wish her the very very best in her new phase in life.
