thought i'd pen this down... no reasons, just wanna jot down some points abt how i save water... heh heh...
:-)
nb: just read this particular post on saving water and i like the way this person has synthesized his thoughts. do take a read too.
- when i change my aquarium water, i'd use also 3/4 of the tankful of water to wash the fish tank and it's paraphernalia. and then, i'd churn up all the waste materials in the sand and use this water, super rich with fish waste, to water my plant. makes excellent fertilizer.
- of the remaining 1/4 tank, i'd use my strainer to filter off these waste several times and reuse the relatively clear water in the aquarium again. reusing some of the `old water' would help the fishes adapt to the aquarium when i fill it up with fresh water.
- on days when i do not wash my aquarium, i'd water the plant with the water from my dog's water bowl. this way, i can water the plant and at the same time, ensure my dog has fresh water daily.
- i use a front loading washing machine and i wash my laundry once a week, longer if possible. i'd do it only when i have a full load of clothes. and i'd collect the water from the last rinse to wash the kitchen and mop the floor.
- i tighten the floating device in the cistern of my toilet flush so that i use lesser water for every flush.
- i wash my toilet when i bath my dog.
