hanoi

arrived at hanoi today and there are just so many interesting things i see! in the first place, i am writing a blog and my start page is in vietnamese! of cos, being a lazy person, i chose to click on what i can remember and `feel' my way around! anyway, some of the most interesting things i see around me today include:
  • lots and lots (yes, i mean lots and lots) of motorcycles and they somehow just move around without crashing into one another!
  • when you cross the road, just close your eyes and cross! trust me, you will be safe. it is perhaps easier to do it with your eyes close. really a test of your faith!
  • never have i seen so many people hording a single place to buy ice cream (the type that comes in sticks)... seemed to be the fashion of the town to eat ice-cream!
  • and man! the things here are so so so so #(^%&^#&^%(*^ cheap! imagine - buying 2 bottles of mineral water and 2 cans of bird's nest/ white fungus drink - cost me no more than S$1.50!
  • hanoi may seem backward and disorganised. but the place is really clean. you can hardly find rubbish around. very unlike some of the cities i had visited.
  • of cos at the hotel that i am now staying in now (run by the army as i was told), it is really the last place to see gay men swimming in the pool! can sense my gaydar ringing away! the stares, the looks... well, just act blur, totally blur!
