today was another hot and humid day. we were all soaked in our perspiration as we made our way to the military history museum as well as the ho chi minh mausoleum in the heart of hanoi. the mausoleum was a really interesting experience. and i guess only a communist country can make my delegation queue up in twos and walk into the mausoleum to view the embalmed body of president ho chi minh. the whole visit felt somewhat weird because today is also the second day of the seventh month in the chinese lunar calender :-)as i walked around the mausoleum, and listening to the stories, i also noted very interestingly the way the locals have viewed and created a god-like person in ho chi minh. for example, one of the story goes that only ho chi minh has the ability to make the carps in the pond leap out of the water to greet him... well, whatever the case, i have to acknowledge that ho chi minh was certainly a very charismatic character who was able to mass the support of his countryman and fight the wars against the invaders of vietnam.
