人日

last saturday was the seventh day of the chinese lunar new year and it was celebrated by many as 人日 (human day). and as usual, my phone was inundated with lotsa birthday greetings, after all that day was celebrated as a birthday for all humankind. as for many chinese in south east asia (more specifically, indonesia, malaysia and singapore), they would commemorate the day by having dinners with family and/ or friends. and importantly, the tossing and eating of the 鱼生 (yu sheng) or raw fish salad is a necessity during this dinner. 

and that was what bee & i did with schneider and natkean. it was a simple but heavy hokkien dinner followed by a round of poker game at bee's place! so it was an evening of food, food, food & more food, cookies, cookies cookies & more cookies, cards, and wine. and of cos, natkean was kinda stuck with the chinese serial that bee played. and above all, it was a simple but very very good break for me. considering the fact that the dinner was almost called off as mum went into a major emotional swing/ tantrum that very morning itself (that lasted through to sunday)...
