time to go

my immediate boss resigned yesterday. he told me he has decided to move on and that he has more than enough of nonsense from the top management. and not too long after, my big boss (my immediate boss's boss) called me up to his office to tell me that since i am sick and i have a sick mother, i need to find a robust solution and i need to be fair to the company. he said that he cannot not squeeze me if he is squeezing other business unit heads just becos i am not well. and he said i need to be truthful to myself and added that if i cannot drive a big car, i should consider driving a smaller car or don't drive a car.

what do you make out of his sentences? frankly when he said what he said, i didn't know how to respond. i was shocked. first and foremost, it didn't sound like it was a human speaking. secondly, he was in no position to understand what i am going through. thirdly, i have been more than fair to the company and have put in more than my fair share of work. and although objectively speaking, his sentences sound logical, his tone did not. how could anyone be giving advices if his voice was raised and he talked like as though he was scolding you.

putting together his overall body posture, the words he used, tone of his voice, and the non-verbal body language, if i think i understood what he was saying, it is perhaps high time i look for a new job. i find it very difficult to accept these sentences from a top management after i have given in so much to the company. so much for having care are part of the core value! very disturbing. and totally bullshit! then again, no point getting emo over such things. time to move on?

any thoughts?

Oh dear...yes, it does look like you will have to unless you are willing to brace the up-coming storm if decide to stay put.
Would your family or Bee be able to help out for short term, if necessary? (It seems to me that u have the most heaviest part of handling yr mum).
Take good care of yrself.

when i do it, it will be after i get my bonus and that is 3 months time. and given that i have to serve notice, it would probably work out to about 5-6 months of space. so i think i have sometime to look for a job.

Hey, sorry to hear about how your boss think of you. Dont worry, those words are merely "corporate speech" by company head but I guest you have much more experience than many of us combined :P

Have you ever considered doing something else? coming out on your own, building your own startup? may sounds illogical but its just worse case scenario. Am sure that you will be fine :)

hey jpj, i am taking my time to look for another job. yup, had considered doing other things such as business but for now, am not prepared to undertake them. still have liabilities and responsibilities. would probably be easier to venture into new areas when i don't have these liabailities and responsibilities.
