mum's op

mum went into the op theatre at 1.30pm earlier. she called me at 12.30pm telling me that she will be going in soon. it's hard to sound composed and reassuring while inside me, i am also breaking. yes, i know it is not a difficult op. yes, i know it is a rather straight forward procedure and that she will be fine. that was something that i have been telling her and reassuring her too. then again, all op come with a certain level of risk. the what ifs... i felt a lump at my throat when she said goodbye and hung up the phone.

she should be out of the op by now. it's projected to be a 3-hr affair. this will be followed by a few hours of observation in the op theatre before she will be sent back to the ward.

hope to be able to see her tomorrow.
