anatomy of a disaster

so far, have witnessed so many disasters and observed how communities respond to it. and i conclude the following as a typical anatomy of a community's response to a disaster after it happens.

shock
realization
disbelief/ denial
anger
acceptance
recovery
closure (altho some may not have closure)
life goes on...

it's the same again and again. and the latest disaster is that of the typhoon morakot that struck taiwan and southern china. the same pattern could be seen. at this point, i think it is still in it's anger/ acceptance stage. and this is a very difficult stage as emotions run high during this stage. not easy for the government and the rescuers. nothing will be right no matter how much effort is put in or no matter how much the authority apologizes. it's sad, but it's the nature of things. even then, the anger will pass. life will go on. i pray for the victims of the disaster and that the survivals will be able to move on quickly.
