mrt pai liao!

i took the mrt (mass rapid transit) home after my program this afternoon.

and at one of the stations, the train didn't move off and the door kept opening and closing. initially, everyone thought it was just a case of someone getting caught and the door opened automatically, but after some 6 times of opening and closing, people began to get a little uneasy and disturbed. now, beside me sat 2 aunties. and one of them was obviously very anxious and kept saying (in hokkien):

"waaa, siào liào. mrt khāy pài liào... yī êhh mńg khūi khûm khūi khûm bóh théng..." (to the effect - wtf, the mrt doors kept opening and closing non-stop).

and she kept looking and sighing as the doors kept opening and closing at least two more times before she started to considering if she should alight for she went...

"khāy mài giá, bèh lòh chiā liào! ài yâh siào liào siào liào". (almost literally, "if the train still do not move, we'll have to alight! wtf wtf!)

i thought it was rather funny. nonetheless, i held my composure. but opposite me sat a young ah lian (almost a derogatory term for a hokkien uncouth-acting or uneducated girl) with her ah beng (the male version of ah lian) lau peh (father) and she couldn't control herself and kept giggling non-stop. heh heh... a rather funny scene. and to make it even more contrasting, on my side was a malay teenager, and a bangladeshi worker and they couldn't understand wth was happening and simply continued focusing on their smartphones.

heh...

one of those enjoyable and laughable moments while taking public transport.

ps: the door opened and closed 2 more times and the train finally moved. and auntie exclaimed "waaa khià liào khià liào!!!" (wow! the train has moved off!)
