plantar fasciitis

plantar fasciitis is not a brand of margarine.

haha... it is a condition known commonly as jogger's heel. according to wikipedia, it is "a disorder of the insertion site of ligament on the bone and is characterized by scarring, inflammation, or structural breakdown of the foot's plantar fascia. and it is often caused by overuse injury of the plantar fascia, increases in exercise, weight or age". so yup, that was what was diagnosed by the specialist at the hospital this morning when i went to check my painful sole. and to manage it, i have been scheduled for physiotherapy as well as some stretching exercises. in addition, i have also been referred to the podiatrist to review the arch of my feet and to assess if i need to change my orthotics.

heh heh. i supposed all these are signs of age catching up. no need to panic, just need to manage it.

  1. wow, so many medical jargon, haha...

i had similar issues with my left ankle for years, went to few specialists, they had no idea what was the cause, like every single time i use the treadmill at home, or i go for jogging, the sharp pain will appear like nobody's business, their usual solution for the inflammation part was prednisolone ( this steroid tablet is loaded with side effects ) and physiotherapy, finally another orthopedician recommended etoricoxib ( non steroid, less side effects ) it did help temporarily, but i didn't like the idea of being under medication for a long time, definitely it would affect my liver...

so my solution was simple, avoid any activity that may cause the inflammation, and eat more fruits that contain anti inflammatory properties ( a slice of pineapple and a bunch of grapes on a daily basis ) and it helped a lot...

even at the gym, i prefer to use the rower machine ( less impact on my ankle ) to warm up before i lift weights...

anyway, hope you will recover soon

take care and bless it be :)
