speculations

after talking to my staff about her impending resignation, we both decided that it would be fair to sound out our department head. this is needed cos she has to tender these two days and my offer is likely to come in in the next couple of days. and i wanted to be fair to the company cos when both of us leaves, there will be a huge gap considering my function would be totally vacated. interestingly, after that, rumours start going around. people start asking if we are resigning. well, that was what my staff told me. i was not around as i had gone for my job interview.

anyway, after my interview and when i was in office again, i chanced upon one of the head of department and she asked me "so, is it true?" i was like, "errrr.... it what true?" i asked back. "that you'll be moving on" she replied. i nodded my head and asked her how she knew about it. i was curious cos it was only 2-3 hours ago that i had talked about it to my department head. her reply took my by surprised. she said "actually, i heard about it from someone since last week" 

wow... she heard about it, even before i told anyone! really, that is the mood in office these days. i was told that many people had expected both my staff and i to tender soon. and so, there had been lots of speculations about when we will do it since quite a while back. i learned from my staff this afternoon that my department head lamented about my moving on cos he said something to the effect that i had made a huge contribution during my time and that the company would be losing a very good person.

well, nice to hear of this endorsement. but i was reminded of something i read before - love your job, but don't love your company. you never know when the company will stop loving you.
