visits to the mental institute has always been interesting.
apart from experiencing lots of interesting people, i also get the chance to learn lots of things.
for today, i learned that mental patients are very thin-skinned, aka sensitive and insecure. as a result, they can get agitated very easily and possibly turn aggressive anytime. and i said this cos as i waited for my turn to see the doctor, i heard a loud angry male voice. i turned my head and noted there was an elderly gentleman by the service counter. for some reasons, he was clearly unhappy with the staff. he was saying something like i want to see the doctor and you don't need to talk like that to me. the service staff tried to explain to him again that he needed to wait for a while more as the doctor would only arrive at 10am (it was 8-ish at that time).
next thing i knew, the elderly male patient got aggressive and shouted angrily at the service staff. by then, the security personnel, staff nurses, etc had gathered around him and tried pacifying him. it was quite a scene. and then suddenly, the elderly man broke down and started crying like a little boy. and just as quickly, the staff nurses and the security personnel ushered him to a room.
it was kinda a surprising twist of event for me. the whole incident reminded me of my mum.
her moods can change suddenly and she can be just as emotional.
it's such incidents that keep me on my toes all the time.
who knows what he went through in life, sometimes i feel sad when i come across mental patients, after all, it's not their choice to end up like that, thinking about it, i guess we should be grateful that we have strong minds to overcome the ups and downs of life, or should i say, we get unexpected help often to ease our burden,i believe angels do exist, in the form of human without wings :-)
ReplyDeleteangels without wings exist amongst us and sometimes we are the angels ourselves without realising it.
ReplyDeleteto me, that is our goddess of mercy persona.
and from that angle, all of us have the potential to be the goddess of mercy, much as all of us has the potential to be the buddha. the obstacles that prevent us from doing so is also ourselves, manifested in the form of mara.
