mum has been hospitalized for 3 days. and in these 3 days, she had cleared her bowels non-stop... almost like 4-5 times a day... and a couple of times at night too... and each time, it was like an avalanche... hahaha... 2 weeks worth of shit surely needs a couple of days to fully clear. then again, i thought it was also a case of her body working extra hard to get rid of the toxins in her blood and her system. so i guess she would probably be shitting on and on for a day or two more before her bowel movement staibilizes... she certainly looked very pinkish and rosy when i visited her this everning. it was such a contrast compared to her bloated, pale and yellowish face a couple of days back.
in recent times, as i looked at her and how she has to rely on the domestic help and nurses to help her clear her bowels, change her diapers, etc, it was clear to me that what she is going through is very similar to what dad went through... and it was also clear to me that when we reach a certain age, and have to rely on people for basic things like these, the whole concept of personal space or dignity becomes non-existent. i supposed all of us will reach this state when we grow old and sickly. and i certainly admire mum for her ability to stay so cheerful and laugh so heartily when i teased her about her clearing her bowels, etc.
