frankly, i am quite amazed (still am getting surprises even after 20-over years with my organisation) at the amount of beauracracy we have in the system. you see, some time last month, i recieved an email from my headquarters hr personnel asking me to prepare a draft testimonial for my organisation chief to endorse. couple of hours later, she wrote me another email telling me that since i had less than 12 yrs service from the date i returned, i am not entitled to it...
hmmm, yes i left my organisation for a yr plus in 2000. but in all, i had served close to 24 yrs. and now, she tells me i am not quailified. after a few exchanges of emails, i decided i should just talk to her boss; and if need be, to talk to my chief myself. and that solved the issue for he wrote back to me telling me that he will facilitate the process... so, finally, i am now starting to draft my own testimonial for my chief to sign.
sighs... i supposed such things occur in big organisations like mine. then again, as the hq hr staff, she has all my records of service and should have looked into the details before putting me through all these unnecessary ding donging of emails. and it is small things like this that makes the whole transition a lesser than positive experience for many of us. i just think hr personnel needs to be a bit more sensitive as they deal with human beings; and not objects.
