once again this vesak, i have gone botak (crew cut). and as in previous years, as my hairdresser cut my hair, thoughts such as will i look ugly came to my mind... and i would once again remind myself of the reasons why i had to cut botak on vesak. yes, there is no requirement for people to go crew cut for vesak. but to me, the hair is something most people take great pains to groom, to style. and so, by cutting it off, it is a symbolic act to remind myself that vanity is something that i must be in control of. it helps me look inward, helps remind me to go back to my true sense of self-being. that as i person, i need to improve and reflect inwards and purify myself, i should not indulge in vanity/ desire, i should understand and accept impermanence and of the transcient nature of things.
happy vesak day one and all!

So far no Swine flu yet.
wa... so glad to get this post from you! so long have not heard from you. been wondering what happened :) heh heh... my hair has grown somewhat! it's amazing how fast one's hair grow when it is very short... then again, it's a perception! 1mm to a 0.5cm long hair is 20% compared to 1mm to a 10cm long hair! well well...
heh!
