generalist vs specialist

went for an interview last thursday.

it was a japanese company. not too keen before i went. nonetheless, i decided it would be useful to give myself a chance to look at opportunities. the interview went smoothly. the local incumbent spoke to me in the presence of his japanese function reporting manager. it was kinda interesting cos throughout the interview, only the singapore guy spoke while the japanese guy sat, took notes and just smiled. he seemed very cordial and accommodating.

the scope of the job sounded very broad. lots of new areas of go into and learn if i were to accept this position. if i were to take on the job, it would expand my coverage from a specialist to a generalist. challenging to a certain extend in that sense. they sounded sufficiently happy with me and asked me to think about it. no rush from what i can see. they will get back to the headhunter after 2 weeks. if both parties are keen, the next stage would be to meet the md based in singapore.

i walked out of the interview feeling like its a potential for a new beginning. other than that, i did not feel as excited as i did when i went for the first interview with co a.  have updated this to my headhunter and told him i am still open to further talks if they are keen. will keep my options open as of now...
