my eyesight has deteriorated significantly overnight. ok, not literally overnight. perhaps over the last 2 weeks or so. then, i was still able to read my iphone and the newspapers in the morning with my specs and/ or contact lenses. but now, when i take up the papers, i see a page of blur words. it was terrible. as for my iphone, i hold it up to read my smses and i see nothing. i need to lift up my specs and wait a split second to allow my eye to refocus before i can read…
then again, i had expected it to come. i was, however, surprised by the suddenness and the speed of the deterioration.
perhaps it is a good time to consider a pair of reading glasses…

Hi Jeffrey,
ReplyDeleteI would be concerned with my family history with diabetes (the pain and blurred vision. Do you have a fasting blood sugar test as part of your annual physical?). I assume you are maintaining hydration.
Your optomitrist should be able to determine if you just need a new prescription (let them know you have diabetes in your family for a thorough exam: there are additional exam procedures).
Have you gone to the respiratory specialist referral? There seems to be a build-up of issues. Stress levels normal?
Ok, caretaker mode off ;-) I am getting my mother out today after a couple of weeks of staying home because of the snow (we are approaching records for our area; the far north smiles at us ;-) Always take advantage of melt-offs to control "cabin fever".
Best wishes, Edwin
Hey Edwin,
ReplyDeleteHeh... I can see the caregiver mode at play.
:-)
Yup, have had my blood sugar tested. Should be up for another test in 2mth's time. All normal and shouldn't be a cause of concern. Will be heading for a respi specialist check next month too. Needed to confirm the reasons for my nasal issue and whether it is the cause of my incessant cough. Been a little too long for comfort. And hmmm... As for stress level, it is constantly there, ups and downs. So I guessed that is normal.
How's the family keeping up with the cold weather? Understand it is really bad this year. For me, spring/ autumn are the best. I always have difficulties when it comes to extreme cold, especially if it is prolonged. Tend to fall sick due to the increased dampness yet dry humidity.
Hope you've been keeping well.
Jeffrey
Hi Jeffrey,
ReplyDeleteI am with you on preferring Spring and Autumn. A cold Winter will really make you appreciate moisturizer as the furnace heat dries out your skin. Humidifiers help. Sinuses are exponential to the skin ;-)
My mother was too excited to be out today (extroverts can get a little fuzzy without face to face interactions; phone calls just aren't the same) that she didn't eat lunch (diabetics really do need to maintain a schedule). She was fine for awhile but started wearing down towards the end at the grocery. After we checked out I asked her if she wanted to have some juice and after she drank it she was fine again. Always walking that fine line of respecting her independence but concerned if she if thinking things through if she is thrown off her routines. It was a good day out: two pharmacies and the grocery ;-)
Erm, this is long but on the "WTF" post I agree. Unfortunately, the people closest to us are the ones who get to see the worst of us. If we are not polite by nature than that mask gets tossed away pretty fast. It would be better not to fall into defensive positions around love ones but we would need to be strong enough to show all our vulnerability, weaknesses and fears without worrying about them freaking out and losing their love and respect. In the meantime we just need to give ourselves and others our compassion in the shared human experience. My two cents ;-)
Best regards, Edwin
Thanks Edwin for the sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice and reminder.
