tampones

i met up with an ex-staff earlier on to give him some of my views about possible career switch. he was my staff in 1995/ 96. and ever since then, we have hardly met or kept in contact until recently when we exchanged some views in facebook. and i was surprised he contacted me to ask me for my advice. i guessed i must have gotten his trust for him to ask me such a question.

so i agreed to meet up with him. i smsed him this morning about where to meet. and as i was sms-ing while driving, i did not focus too much on my sms text. i took a look at the sms again after some time, i realized i had misspell the word "tampines". i had typed "tampones" instead... haha... initially, i thought i read "tampons" and for a while, i got really confused. how could i be meeting him at "tampons". heh heh...

ok, back to our meeting. i gave him my views. i knew he was looking for answers. but i am not one who gives answers. and it is not because i can't give an answer. i can. but i cannot guarantee the answer i give is the answer that is meaningful and relevant to him. so i did what i usually do when people seek my advise. i gave him my views about how he should go about rationalizing how which path he should take. i gave some examples but in the end, i was non-committal. nonetheless, i made sure i explain to him why i did not give him a direct answer. he listened. and he thought about it. i could see my words made him think quite a bit. although he didn't get an answer from me after talking for a while, he didn't come across as disappointed. i could see he was happy with my sharing and he took my views very well. we ended with him saying that he would think about what i said.

we parted after that.

:-)
