talking to kids 4

one more conversation between one of the student (a boy) and i... this time round, i was driving and we were on our way to the old folks home.

xxx: teacher teacher, you have a one dollar coin on the floor at the back of your car.

me: oh? ok... i must have dropped it. just place it in my coin compartment. thanks.

silence... soon enough, we arrived and i parked my car. out came the whole lot of students. and i locked my car and was about to walk off...

xxx: teacher teacher, this is your one dollar!

me: thanks! :-)

frankly, i was rather impressed with this boy's honesty. i am not sure if it is a case the dharma's effects on them. but i have observed that the schools' students are generally a lot more disciplined and virtuous in their conduct. this reminds me of another incident when the students were in class and there was a bag of tidbits. one of the students looked inside and was literally salivating cos he was a tidbit craze. i told him much as he liked it, he shouldn't take it. and he immediately replied "ya i know, it is not mine. and somebody has left it. so it is not right to take without asking."

i am impressed.
