malaysia - part 2

kuala lumpur. malaysia's capital city.

another very very very big geylang serai.

two years had passed since my last visit. some very clear changes had taken place. lot 10 is no longer the gay center of gravity. lot 10 is now a dead place. even the cafe had moved. instead, the latest place to people (read - gay) gaze is pavilion (see picture). i also noticed a lot more middle eastern people. it is not difficult to spot them. women wearing chador (complete black overall / cloak) and the yashmak (face viel that covers the whole face less a slit for the eyes) walking with middle eastern looking gentlemen in modern day t-shirt and jeans. almost surreal at times to see so many of such contrastingly dressed couples walking altogether in a place. interesting.

and it was really nice to be able to catch up with friends - jonathan, maria... and for a short while, ben. yes, meeting up with them was the real highlight of this whole trip.
