mak

mak - that is how i address my mum. it's a malay term for "mother". and that's how she had taught us all to address her since we were young. a result of her peranakan (straits born chinese) background. and my earliest memories of my mum was when i was nothing more than 2-3 years old. that was the time when i could still fit in and sleep in the suspended sarong and when i could still be carried and placed on the dining table for my meals. she would feed me using her hands and while feeding me, she would patiently teach me the malay terms for the dishes she cooked. "sayur... telor... ikan... nasi... etc".

these fond memories of my toddler days are still so vivid.

ok, back to her fall. called her up this morning to check on her. her giddiness had stopped. that was a good sign. her whole body still ached nonetheless. so i advised her to take some pain killers and rest for the day.

just glad things are ok.

:-)
