derrick

came out to derrick, a friend of mine, earlier. had known him for what? 5 years? may be more. and have never seen him as any different from others. i strongly believe in not-shitting-in-your-own-backyard and  that made me so oblivious to people at work. then again, my gaydar has never been functioning too well, especially at work... heh!

anyway, recently, chatted more with him after chancing upon him again after a short period of no contact. and as we chatted, it become quite clear that he is part of our family, our rainbow kinda family. and i told bee about him. bee took a look at his facebook profile, his pictures and his hobby and told me - aiyah, no need to second guess la. confirmed. double confirmed. well, bee's gaydar is seldom wrong. then again, it didn't matter. a friend, straight or gay, is still a friend.

and today, i decided it was time to come out to him. it felt so natural, and after doing it, felt good. and well, he also felt comfortable enough to come out to me... friends with no secrets is so much more liberating. no further need for all the pretence and false fronts...
