so ungay

bee made a comment this morning on our way back from breakfast. he said i was the most ungay gay person around. hmmm... interesting yet highly conflicting comment, considering how he said many times before that one look at me, even the dead would be able to know i am gay (i was so sure he was joking when he said that)... curious, i asked him why and he explained... you see, your dressing, the way you carry yourself, the way you talk, the way you about doing things in life... all so unlike a "typical" gay person. and he added but of cos, if a person knows you well enough, he will surely know you are gay. with all your patterns, so unexpected... looked so serious yet when alone so full of nonsense and he went on but one thing is for sure, once you wear your batik shirt, you look so so so gay!

heh heh... i took that as a great compliment!

of cos la, like what my mum always say, when she wears her kebaya, she must carry herself like a nonya, must gelek gelek a bit. it is part of the overall respect and de corum she needs to accord to the traditional dress. and in the case of the batik for me, it is very much the same. i take pride and joy in wearing the batik. and when i do, i take great pains to make sure i can carry the batik well. the patterns of my batik must first suit my personality. floral, traditional yet modern. and before wearing it, it must be well pressed. and of cos, for me, i complete the whole look by wearing a nice scent, shine my leather shoes and make sure my hair is well in place. these are some of the most basic things i, a respectable son of a nonya, must do when i wear the batik.

Hi, it's me again. I am glad that you and your mum are getting on fine now.

I am busy these days trying to prepare for a house removal, packing things into boxes. It's shocking to find there are so many things in the flat.

Our flat needs a renovation urgently because the floor tiles in our living area are popping out after 25 years.

Getting a reliable contractor is not an easy task. I think the renovation itself is going to be quite stressful. Now I really have to pick up speed in my packing.

Take care. Cheers :)

hi ladybird!

well, things are still so so... and she's behaving very much like a kid now. throwing tantrums, etc. anyway...

hey, moving house? wow! tiring, but very exciting! and yes, it is a good time to also get rid of a lot of things. don't know about your family, but for me, we do have lots of stuff that pile up over the years. stuffs that we feel "aiyah, too sayang to throw away" and ended up keeping and collecting dust...

so, yup, good to use the opportunity to clear up things. and oh, don't forget, small small things can add up to a lot of things. so, always make spare space for small stuff. cannot underestimate them!

Hi, I guess you have to take it one day at a time with your mum. Scared to think that I would also behave like a child when I grow old. Maybe my sons would send me away...

Anyway, we are moving out temporarily to make way for the renovation of our current flat which is already 25 years old. When we just got married we did minimum reno as we were rather cash-strapped then. Now everything seems old and worn so we are planning for a major reno.

Already a number of boxes are filling up. Can't imagine my hb's clothes could fill up FOUR 2-door wardrobes while I only need one.

Sometimes I wonder if his spending habit is a result of his difficult childhood when the maintenance payments from his estranged father were always delayed. When he started work, he spends to compensate and pamper himself. However, since we complement each other when it comes to our spending behaviour, so far we do not have any $ problems.

My hb packs by throwing everything into the boxes to be sorted later at our temporary accomodation. For me I try to discard as I think sorting would be next to impossible with all the boxes stacked up high.

My elder sis and SIL have offered their homes for temporary storage. How kind of them... :)
