one day 2 weeks ago, one of the ocbc bank's relationship manager called me up and told me i qualified to be upgraded to premier banking. she then asked me if i am ok for her to proceed processing the upgrade. i need to do nothing. i said ok. and then she asked to pay the bank a visit so that she could introduce some products to me. well... ok, i said.i visited the bank subsequently and she did a quick survey about my banking habits. i could see she was trying to know whether i have other banking accounts with other banks, etc. of cos, i replied and quickly she added ahhh... yes, yes, i do too. in fact most of my savings are kept in my uob bank accounts...
hmmm, interesting i thought. in that few words, you - an ocbc bank relationship manager - have just suggested to your customer that you do not believe nor trust your own employer enough to park your own savings in your own bank. what more can you expect your customer to trust you to manage his monies?
