couple of days back, i tried to convince my mum about getting a maid to look after her. it was one helluva conversation. you see, my mum had been against the idea of getting a maid to look after her. but given the challenges of looking after her and the fact that when i go to work, she would be left alone at home, i thought it was necessary and important. i tried to explain and reason out with her about it. but she insisted there was no need for a maid and that she could look after herself. and despite me explanation about the safety, the peace of mind it would provide to all of us, etc, she insisted on a "no". so i did what i need to do. i gave her a choice - either we get a maid or i shall quit my job to look after her fulltime.
that shook her up big time. no, no, no, i must not quit my job, she said. and with that, she reluctantly agreed to the idea of a maid. and just when i thought everything was fine, she threw in another spanner, she wanted me to get a part time maid, just like the way my sis got a part time maid to do simple house chores. hmmm... ok, at least it was a good start. i left the conversations there. i kept the options open. let's take time to coax her into getting a fulltime maid...
