mum can walk!

i am very happy to see the progress my mum has achieved over her knees over the last couple of months. as of today, she can take small steps on her own. for that matter, the domestic helper told me that at times, mum was able to walk without the use of walking aid. these are very good news indeed.

i guessed she was able to progressed so fast becos she had pushed herself to go through the daily stretching regime suggested by the hospital physiotherapist. frankly, it was not easy to convince her. it took me a lot of patience and a lot of time. but i was glad i managed to coax her do it. as of now, i also managed to convince her to start exercising her leg and back muscles apart from simply stretching her knees. managed to explain to her that her pain is also due to her weak back muscles as a result of prolonged inactivity and bad posture.

  1. My mum is going for a similar ops in a couple of weeks. Hope she recover as fast as your mum, CNY coming.....I know she don't wanna sit thru' it.

  2. Hey, if you mum is healthy and has been able to walk reasonably ok previously, she should be able to recover very fast. One of my friend's mum who's in her early 60s went for the op, and she was up and running (ok, walking) a couple of days after the op. For my mum, it had taken her a longer time to get to where she is now cos she has a very heavy frame, much older and hence, a lot weaker.

    best wishes to your mum!
