i have asked this some 2-plus years back - are there blind gays? given that looks are so important, i can envisage how challenging life would be like for gays who are blind. not so much whether they can love people for i am damned cock sure they can, but rather, whether people can accept and love blind people given that looks is one super big criteria in the gay circle*. anyway, this is my morning-after reflections after watching `the willow tree' last night.
well, at that time when i asked this question, i had not bothered to research further. today, i did a google on blind gay and am surprised to know that yes, there are indeed blind gay people out there. and for that matter, they were blind from birth/ at such a young age that they have no idea what our world is like. and this hey, doesn't this further reinforce the notion that being gay is in-borne and not nurtured?
and for that matter, how many of us (both str8 & gay alike) view people through coloured and discriminatory lenses (often a result of our ignorance) to the talent and contributions by people (again both str8 & gay) around us? and we choose to disguise these discriminatory lenses by using excuses such as `conservative society', `dangerous', `potential threats', etc...* here, i am assuming that blind gay people are perhaps not so conscious abt looks to the extend that they put so much energy to pump up their bodies to get the oooohhh -so -toned -& -smooth -an -ant -will -drown -in -perspiration -in -the -abs -crevice type of body!
