chanced upon charles' blog while surfing the net yesterday. so happy. decided to drop him a mail and include him in my msn list... and next thing i know, he logged on! we had a good and nice chat over the msn. it was so nice to be able to reconnect with friends whom you have lost contact with.
anyway, charles was one of my staff some 10 years ago. he was the cutest and of course, one of my favourite. could sense he was gay (and i only learned from our chat yesterday that he only came out and accepted it some couple of years back)... anyway, i kept my distance. i was (and still am) very clear abt the line between work-self and personal-self. at work, i always have a very good working relationship with all my staff and there would be a certain of closeness between them and me to the extend that they could talk to me abt their life, their friends etc. this was the same with charles. and i recalled how he would also seek my opinions about some of his life's directions - like, for example, should he pursue his studies... so glad that he is happy and very successful in his career now! :-)
