resignations

with one more week to go, i was quite unprepared to get what i got this morning. one of my managers, who was sick and was on mc, appeared in my office and tendered her resignation. sighs... frankly, some of my managers have indicated they would leave when i leave, but i did not expect it to happen so fast... yes, the domino effect has started... one more senior manager is actively looking for jobs now, and another manager has gone for interviews...

one of my heads commented that that is what senior management have to manage after they mismanaged me. but well, let's not see ourselves as indispensable i told him, my experience tells me that all organizations have the abilities to move on regardless of who comes or who goes. no one is indispensable. at most, there will be a slowing down of some developments, but the company will surely not fall because of that.

as for the individual, if you are not happy, just leave. loyalty is an old fashion thing. it is totally passe in today's organization. and i know cos i see loyal people getting the boot all the time, especially in my current company, just because someone up there has some historical misgivings about them.
