character check

i got a call from the headhunter mid-week. this is less than a week after my second interview. hi, i have good news for you she said. the company has decided to invite you for an interview with the top man... but before we proceed, we need to sort out the details of your information and history, and we need to do a thorough character check on you. can you confirm that the names listed in your application forms are correct? we will be calling them (my boss and my subordinate) to do a check on you soon....

oops... i thought. worried, i felt. technically, i have not told them i have tendered. and so, the company that interviewed me did not know about it... so, i decided to tell the headhunter and the advice was - no worries. as long as your reasons for tendering is legitimate and that your boss, during the check, did not say anything negative about you, then it is ok. hmmm... ok to cut the long story short, the character reference checks all went well. according to the headhunter, my boss did not say anything negative. and my subordinate also gave quite a good account of my strengths... (and of cos when asked about my weaknesses, he said my strengths are also my weaknesses.... i leave it to them to interpret...).

so, let's hope the interview with the top man materialize and that i do not face any hurdles...
