mrt seats

went to visit my mum yesterday and when i walked into the mrt at the jurong east interchange, an indian chap got up from his seat and offered it to me. it took me by surprise. i said no, it's ok. but he insisted i take the seat and before i knew it, he stood up, moved to the door and stood there. i had no choice but to sit down. lots of people were staring at me by then. it was so embarrassing...

but thinking back, i thought i was so funny. we always asked people to be gracious and offer their seats to people whom we think might need it more. in this case, the indian chap could have thought i needed it more than him (i was carrying a bag). but it turned out i felt embarrassed by his actions. heh... i supposed when we want to be gracious, we also need to be sensitive and hope that the person we want to be gracious to is ready to accept our gracious act...
